Dear Pilot Mill and Mordecai neighbors,
This is the official sign up for our annual Dr. Bob's LightBall Workshop. The workshop will be held on Sunday, October 23, 2016, beginning at 2:00 pm and ending at 4:00 pm. We will use the parking lot adjacent to and in between Harp and Haynes Streets in Pilot Mill.

For those of you who are not familiar with this type of holiday decoration, here are some websites:

The lights in Greensboro on You tube -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH79jwCnosY

and are also found here: http://vimeo.com/54169220

I don't have pictures of the lightballs that have been displayed in Pilot Mill, Mordecai and Person Street but, I hope, you get the idea. We started with one house in Pilot Mill and, as a guess, we were up to 35 houses last year. There were also many light balls in Mordecai and on Person Street businesses.

With the size of the lightballs that we have and will be making, the 100 lights per string is what is needed. For trees in Pilot Mill, it takes 7 - 10 balls per average tree in the devil strip.

The following materials are needed to make a light ball:

one string of 100 lights (you supply - some do white, others do color, it's up to you)
chicken wire (we supply)
wire ties (we supply)
electrical tape (we supply)
suitable work area (we supply)
band-aids (we supply)
good weather (you supply)
work gloves (you supply)
tasty beverages or snacks (you supply)

For the materials that we supply we ask two things:

a suitable donation to cover the costs - $1.00 (one dollar)
that you "reserve" the number of packets of materials that you want in advance by clicking here.

As in previous years, this is a Learn and Make Workshop where you learn to make a Light Ball and then make another under whatever amount of tutoring you desire.

Hope to see you there.

Shine on,
Stephan Kiefer and the Light Ball Elves
